About Peter
Peter is a California appellate attorney specializing in family law matters.
Since 1991, Peter has handled hundreds of appellate cases at all levels of state and federal court, including in the United States Supreme Court, where he successfully represented his client in Cunningham v. California (2007) 549 U.S. 270. California Lawyer Magazine has named Peter Attorney of the Year in appellate law.
Peter received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in economics from Yale University and earned his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
After law school, Peter joined the law firm of Pettit & Martin. He then moved to Gardner & Derham, where he began practicing appellate law and became a partner in 1994.
Peter started his own appellate practice in 1996. In addition to handling appellate matters, he aids trial counsel with strategic and tactical issues in anticipation of appeal.
